As a Show Rigger, you’ll report to the Heads of Automation. Your focus will be on overseeing the maintenance of all circus rigging equipment, ensuring that all systems operate smoothly during shows and rehearsals. You’ll work to maintain production continuity, support safe and efficient backstage operations, and collaborate closely across departments to ensure a seamless performance.

Responsibilities and Duties: Backstage Brilliance
·         Assist the Heads of Stage and Automation to ensure the smooth running of all rehearsals and performances.

·         Assist with the fit-up, setup, and maintenance of circus rigging and performer flying equipment.

·         Develop a thorough knowledge of all circus rigging and performer flying equipment specific to the production to operate and maintain mechanized and manual systems safely.

·         Inspect, maintain, and provide timely reporting on all circus rigging equipment and systems.

·         Assist with all inspection, maintenance and other required documentation for the safe and continued show operation.

·         Operate show cues, circus rigging and performer flying systems and related equipment for performances and maintenance.

·         Assist with rescue procedures including training, development and rehearsal.

·         Perform all duties as necessary for the success of the production, working collaboratively with all other departments to meet technical and artistic requirements.

·         Maintain a safe working environment at all times by adhering to Disney’s Health and Safety policies, relevant legislation, and best practices.

 

What We’re Looking For:
·         Background: Previous experience in theatrical rigging, and performer flying in similar large-scale productions.

·         Technical Knowledge: Previous experience with chain motors, performer flying systems, and circus rigging. Solid understanding of backstage rigging practices and associated equipment.

·         Working at Height: Ability to climb and work safely at heights when required

·         Communication: Clear, confident communication and decision-making skills are essential.

·         Composure: Ability to remain focused and calm under pressure.

·         Interpersonal Skills: Excellent relationship and interpersonal skills with crew, cast, creative, and production teams.

·         Integrity & Confidentiality: Full awareness of the need for discretion, integrity, and confidentiality in all aspects of the role.

·         Health & Safety Awareness: Solid working knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices within a backstage environment.

Additional Information: The Details
·         Contract Type: Fixed-Term 48 hours per week

·         Start Date: Early 2027

·         Run Dates: 2027-2028

·         Hours: 48 hours per week

·         Schedule: Monday-Saturday schedule with a midweek and weekend matinee

·         Health & Safety: This role will require the candidate to understand and follow the Health and Safety Rules & Regulations at the production
