Budget and monitor Production spending.
Produce and/or overview production risk assessments and other relevant Health & Safety paperwork.
Monitor developments in union agreements and ensure Nicoll Entertainment fulfils its obligations as an employer.
Create and maintain a production schedule for each show and advance technical information with confirmed venues.
To call and chair Production Meetings for each production, and organise additional meetings for production staff as required
Work closely with Directors, Designers and other Department Heads, to continuously assess the physical production and determine if it can be delivered within the agreed parameters, and find collaborative ways to bring any overshoot back within these.
Conduct a comprehensive assessment from initial design through final set construction to ensure the design remains within the agreed parameters. Where any variance occurs, to work collaboratively to identify and implement solutions that bring the project back within scope, ensuring delivery of the agreed design on schedule and the production of a safe, practical, and cost-effective final outcome.
Work with overseas partners, and provide relevant information so they can accurately recreate and stage our productions
Recruit and manage external contractors and freelancers to deliver elements of physical productions as required.
Check venue tech specs to ensure that the Production will work in each space before the booking is confirmed.
Read all Rehearsal Reports and Show Reports in a timely manner, and respond to any questions or requests regarding Production matters where applicable.
Find quick and effective solutions to any production issues or problems that arise.
Manage, support and develop your department and production staff.
Remain current with industry best practices and applicable technologies, continually seeking opportunities to adapt and improve our business practices.
Organise costume returns and storage.
Working with the General Management department to ensure all production information is properly archived at the end of the run, including archive recordings, merchandise, marketing information, show reports and the safe-keeping of the prompt copy.
Managing our storage facilities to ensure all Productions are stored in a good condition for when they will go out again.
This role is primarily based in our office in central London, with the option for some hybrid working from home, as well as regular onsite work at theatres and our depot. The core working schedule will be 40 hours per week, 10am – 6pm, Monday – Friday. Some weekend and off site working may be required, with time off in lieu given for these.
Essential Skills:
2 years’ previous experience in a relevant production role;
Full driving license;
Highly organised, able to learn details quickly and hit the ground running
Self motivated and can work independently;
Confident and articulate, able to encourage and motivate others;
Excellent administrative skills alongside good IT skills and fluency in Word and Excel;
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines;
Commitment to achieving high standards;
Positive and enthusiastic attitude, including a flexible approach and ability to use initiative for developing and delivering the job;
Strong planning, organisational and interpersonal skills;
Ability to engage confidently and pleasantly with a wide range of people;
