Overview of Role: Step into the Pride Lands
We are seeking a passionate and motivated individual to join the Wardrobe department for Disney’s The Lion King at London’s Lyceum.
As a Wardrobe Assistant, you’ll report to the Head and Deputy Head of Wardrobe. You’ll support the day-to-day running of a large-scale musical by preparing and maintaining costumes, assisting with quick changes, and ensuring the show runs smoothly to the highest standard.
Responsibilities and Duties: Backstage Brilliance
- Work alongside your team, other technical departments, stage management, the acting company, and resident creative team members to ensure the efficient flow of information.
- Support the Head and Deputy Head of Wardrobe with any day-to-day changes that might impact the running of the Production.
- Perform daily wardrobe setups, pre-sets, and checks prior to each performance.
- Maintain an awareness of swing and understudy performances ahead of each show, making necessary costume and dressing adjustments.
- Support team members in teaching workroom skills.
- Maintain and clean all costumes to ensure they are performance-ready for every show.
- Conduct costume fittings when required to do so.
- Attend rehearsal, technical, dress and understudy rehearsals as required.
- Responsible for costume repairs as directed, ensuring all garments meet the artistic standards of the production under the guidance of the Head and Deputy Head of Wardrobe, Production Manager and Resident Creative Team.
- Acquire familiarity with all plots/tracks within the Wardrobe department.
- Report and feedback show and staff related issues in a timely manner.
- Work in accordance with Disney’s Health and Safety Policy and maintain a strong working knowledge of relevant legislation and good practices.
What We’re Looking For:
- Background: Experience in a similar role within a large-scale musical production.
- Sewing Skills: Strong machine and hand sewing ability with knowledge of various textiles.
- Costume Expertise: Extensive knowledge of costume construction and ability to sew and alter garments. Experience in repairs and maintenance on a large-scale theatrical production is desirable.
- Material Knowledge: Understanding of different materials and components, including silk, spandex, fabric surface painting, beading, and zippers.
- Costume Maintenance: Knowledge of laundering and maintaining stage costumes.
- Team Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster positive working relationships across departments.
- Problem-Solving: Proven ability to think quickly, troubleshoot calmly, and act effectively under pressure during live performances.
- Calm Under Pressure: Maintains composure and professionalism in high-stress or fast-paced backstage environments.

Additional Information
- Contract Type: Fixed-Term
- Start Date: 11th December 2025 (TBC)
- Schedule: Tuesday to Sunday (evening and weekend show schedule)
- Health & Safety: This role will require to follow the Health and Safety Rules & Regulations at the production.
