OPEN CALL – Les Miserable School Edition – Director (DLM)

As part of our creative approach, we regularly recruit freelance positions through open call outs to ensure accessible, fair and representative practices. We are delighted to be able to offer opportunities to local creatives for 2026 at Mayflower Studios.

Role: DIRECTOR (DLM)

Experience Level: Professional with experience of directing large youth casts ideally over intensive project periods.
Tech Rehearsals From:  Wednesday 12th August
Sitzprobe: 9th August 2025
Performances: Friday 14th – Sunday 16th August 2026

Duties

The Director is responsible for leading the creative vision and direction of the production, guiding young performers to deliver an engaging, high-quality show. They oversee all aspects of rehearsals and staging. Including detailed planning of rehearsal schedules following casting. The Director will be expected to communicate their vision for the
piece to their fellow creatives, including Movement Director, Musical Director, Head of Wardrobe and Production Manager as well as the wider Creative Team.

The Director also leads the audition process in partnership with the Producer and our Participation team.
