The Head of People & Culture will play a central role in shaping the working life and experience of everyone at Nottingham Playhouse. You will lead and develop our People & Culture strategy, ensuring we continue to attract, support, and retain brilliant staff and freelancers. This is a part time role based on a 0.6 contract.

At Nottingham Playhouse, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As we continue to evolve, we are seeking an inspiring and strategic HR leader to help shape our culture and ensure our teams are supported, valued and able to thrive.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the new role of Head of People & Culture (part-time, 0.6) will lead the development and delivery of our People & Culture strategy. You will ensure we attract, support and retain exceptional staff and freelancers, while strengthening Nottingham Playhouse’s reputation as a great place to work.

You will lead our people strategy across culture, wellbeing, and workforce planning, ensuring our practices are robust, inclusive and fit for the future. From complex employee relations, to recruitment, learning and development, EDI and wellbeing, you will ensure our people feel valued, supported and empowered to do their best work. This is a hands-on, strategic role with real influence across the organisation. Acting as a trusted adviser you will guide organisational culture, embed inclusive practice, and support managers with confidence and clarity.

You will be a dynamic, empathetic HR professional with significant senior-level generalist experience. You will bring strong employee relations expertise, excellent knowledge of employment law and compliance, and a proven track record in people strategy, culture change and wellbeing. You will be confident influencing senior leaders, with strong coaching, communication and relationship-building skills and CIPD Level 7 (or equivalent). Experience in the arts is welcomed but not essential.

Part-time 22.5 hours per week (0.6 FTE).

Salary: £50,000-£55,000 pro rata (£30,000-£33,000 actual)
