Key accountabilities

  • Pitch content ideas that will develop target audiences, support campaigns and communicate key brand messages.
  • Plan, shoot and edit thumb-stopping short-form video content for Opera North and Howard Assembly Room’s social media channels (including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube Shorts and other emerging channels) — as well as for Opera North’s email campaigns and website.
  • Work collaboratively with the Social Media Specialist, Paid Digital Specialist and Email Marketing Specialist to make sure content is tailored to and optimised for each platform.
  • Make sure video content follows best practice for user experience, social media SEO and accessibility, including the provision of subtitles and captions as required.
  • Work closely with the Social Media Specialist to deliver and develop the Company’s Social Media Strategy.
  • Use shared planning tools to ensure digital content is delivered on time and according to brief.
  • Stay current with emerging digital trends and content formats
  • Analyse video performance metrics, using data and insights to inform content decisions and improve results.
  • Work alongside freelance filmmakers on opportunities to adapt or complement longer-form video content.
  • Build positive working relationships with staff across the organisation and guest artists.
  • Be responsible for the maintenance and monitoring of kit.
  • Digitally archive video projects.

Person Specification

  • Proven professional experience of creating short-form video content for social media campaigns for a brand or brands, with success on TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts or equivalent.
  • Confidence filming content using smartphones and cameras (DSLR or similar).
  • Experience using editing software.
  • Understanding of short-form video platforms – including trends, formats, algorithms and audience behaviour.
  • Ability to translate a compelling story into engaging video content.
  • Ability to work at pace, responding in real time to trends, cultural moments or in-house opportunities to capture content.
  • Well organised and able to plan and prioritise workload.
  • Able to work well as part of a team.
