West End Live 2022 in Pictures and Numbers: Over 50,000 Theatre Fans Converge on Trafalgar Square for Weekend of World-Class Musical Theatre

An estimated 55,000 people flocked to London’s Trafalgar Square this weekend (Sat 25 & Sun 26 June) for West End LIVE, Europe’s biggest free theatre festival. Theatre fans travelled from all over the UK and even further afield for this hotly anticipated highlight of the theatrical calendar.

The weekend was packed with 11 hours of performances from over 50 top London shows, featuring a total of 541 performers. Musicals on the bill included Hamilton, Six, Wicked, Tina – The Tina Turner Musical, Dear Evan Hansen, The Book Of Mormon, Les Misérables and Come From Away – as well as a host of new hit shows making their West End LIVE debuts, including Cabaret, Moulin Rouge! The Musical, Legally Blonde, Back To The Future – The Musical, Disney’s Beauty And The Beast and South Pacific.

Videos of the performances posted to the Official London Theatre YouTube channel have already accumulated a total of nearly 800,000 views, and are currently gaining around 500 views per minute. Overall, the West End LIVE and Official London Theatre social channels had a reach of over 7m across the weekend, and gained over 8,400 followers.
