As a valued member of SOLT & UK Theatre, we want to ensure our policy, research, and advocacy work truly reflects your needs.
To represent you effectively – both in trade union negotiations and in government discussions – we need a clearer picture of our full membership.
That’s why we’re asking you to complete our annual survey, launching today. This is part of our new approach to reduce the number of surveys you receive while ensuring we check in with you regularly through shorter, quarterly updates.
About the survey
The survey is divided into three key sections:
Theatre leaders
Who should complete it? Anyone in a leadership position within the theatre ecosystem, from West End producers to venue CEOs or Executive Directors.
Time required: Approximately 30 minutes.
No data preparation needed.
Finance Directors (Venues)
Who should complete it? Those responsible for financial accounting in a venue – whether producing or presenting, NPO or commercial, regardless of size or location.
Data required: Balance sheets, P&L statements, or other financial reports.
Producers & General Managers
Who should complete it? Those overseeing production costs, whether for touring shows, venue-led productions, or projects funded by Arts Council or private investment. For a production with multiple producers, this should be the first-billed producer only.
Data required: Production accounts for investor/stakeholder reporting.
Option to complete via online survey or Excel spreadsheet.
On each of the online survey pages you will find a link to download a word version of the survey to aid you in compiling your responses before submitting online.
Why this matters
We’ll use the data you provide to advocate on your behalf – starting immediately.
The deadline to complete the survey is 12pm on Thursday 13 March 2025, so we can use your insights to influence the Government Spending Review.
