Voluntary role (Around four quarterly trustee meetings per year)
Trustee experience isn’t essential, and we are specifically interested in hearing from those with experience in any of the following areas:
– Fundraising
– Disability arts
– Technical theatre
– Educational/Schools/College
– Youth theatre
– Digital education
– Gaming development
We are also particularly interested in hearing from those with experience of working to encourage young theatre talent, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds and who identify as Black, Asian, global majority, working-class, and D/deaf and/or disabled.
Get Into Theatre is a one-stop shop for young people to discover opportunities, work experience and careers advice.
We are an independent charity providing vital information for young people from all backgrounds across the UK about the viable careers and training routes available in theatre. We do this at no cost to the young people, or the theatres and training institutions whose opportunities we feature and promote.
Our mission is to reach young people from backgrounds currently under-represented in our industry. Our Get Into Theatre digital resource is already used by more than 20,000 young people, parents and teachers every month and we have reached more than 1 million online users since launch in 2019. In 2023, 22% of sign-ups were from young people from a global majority background, with 9% identifying as having a disability and 31% from a low-income household.
In the first instance, those interested in applying to become a trustee should send a CV and cover letter to Get Into Theatre’s chair, Alistair Smith (alistair@thestage.co.uk). If you require any further information please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
