We are seeking a passionate, driven and motivated individual to assist the Lighting department for Disney’s The Lion King at London’s Lyceum on a fixed term basis.

Experience, Qualifications and People Management experience

  • Background: Previous work in a backstage theatre environment is desirable but not essential.
  • Technical knowledge: Understanding of moving lights and DMX operation is desirable but not essential.
  • Electrical skills: Ability to wire a plug and awareness of health & safety precautions when working with electricity is essential.
  • Lighting skills: Experience with conventional lighting fixture focusing is desirable but not essential.

Technical Skills Requirement and Duties

  • Operation of lighting plots: Learn and operate multiple plots on the production, including 4 follow spots, 2 stage LX, and ETC Desk board operator plots.
  • Follow spot: Act as follow spot operator, ensuring the equipment functions correctly before and during performances, executing cues as directed, maintaining the spot to a high standard.
  • Preparation and maintenance: Learn and undertake weekly preparation for the maintenance of the lighting rig, including gel cutting.
  • Routine maintenance: Learn and undertake weekly maintenance of the lighting rig and follow spots alongside the Lighting team.
  • Lighting plans: Learn to read lighting plans and execute necessary changes

Additional Information:

  • Contract Type: Fixed-Term for 6 Months
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Start DateASAP
  • Schedule: Tuesday to Sunday (evening and weekend show schedule)
  • Requirements: This role will require the candidate to undertake manual handling.
    – At height using access equipment (climbing involved)
    – In dark environments
    – In confined spaces
  • Health & Safety: This role will require the candidate to understand and follow the Health and Safety Rules & Regulations at the production.
