Stage Manager

About the role
English National Ballet is looking for a Stage Manager to join the Technical team. In this senior management role, you will lead the stage management team to deliver this essential service, at each stage of the production, from preparation and scheduling, to rehearsal, performances and maintaining good documentation.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Stage Management team to provide a reliable and effective service for all aspects of production, at MCD or any designated venue, on national or international tours.
- Effective preparation for each production, preparing and maintaining the prompt copy of the score and other production documentation and records.
- Ensure the safe and smooth running of rehearsals and performances.
- Oversee the conduct, safety and general welfare of all staff working backstage, with due care and attention to all relevant company and safety procedures.
Key Selection Criteria
- Extensive experience in operating ‘on the book’ for large-scale professional productions in a performing arts environment.
- Strong score-reading skills, with the ability to follow complex musical structures with precision.
- Experience of touring with large scale productions and understanding of requirements for national and international touring.
- Strong planning and proactive preparation skills, able to operate with a busy forward planning schedule.
- Credibility as the Stage Manager for ENB with the ability to deliver a consistent high standard of work across the team.
- Ability to work safely backstage in technical areas, where lighting will be dimmed at times during the production.
