Stage Lighting Systems Designer

Theatre Projects (TP) is a world-leading theatre design consultancy specialising in theatre design, planning, technology, operations, and acoustics. We are seeking a systems consultant with a production lighting bias, based in our London office, but with flexibility to work from home for three days per week.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual committed to the long-term development of their skills, with a strong commitment to collaborative working. The ideal candidate will be a confident communicator and be comfortable working with people at all levels. Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills will be required to work within multiple teams, across varying submissions with concurrent deadlines.

Your Skills – You’re someone who can:

  • Design a production system to suit the client’s artistic ambitions
  • Support creative design with high quality schedules, budgets, and reports
  • Draw production technical systems from concept design to detailed specification
  • Be comfortable dealing with people at all levels of a project team
  • Assist your fellow team members with other design and admin tasks
  • Work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Be contractually and commercially aware
  • Find creative solutions to project challenges
  • Be comfortable testing and commissioning installed systems
  • Be willing to take on new challenges and learn new skills.

Your Experience – You’ll have:

  • Experience of technical theatre in the construction industry or performing arts
  • Experience of stage and production electrical systems
  • Proficiency in MS Office particularly Word and Excel
  • Experience of 3D CAD on any software platform
  • Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD
  • Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Motivation and willingness to take on new challenges
  • A valid passport and a willingness to travel globally
  • Be proactive in your approach
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Proof of the legal right to work in the UK

Valued – You may have:

  • Proficiency in other languages
  • Familiarity with Autodesk AEC collection, especially Revit
  • A degree in technical theatre, engineering or a related field, or other industry applicable qualification
  • Qualifications in BS7671 and BS7909
  • Experience as a theatre lighting designer or production electrician.
