DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Running pre-show sound checks.
  • Taking responsibility for the backstage sound plot during performances.
  • Testing, fitting and checking radio mics.
  • Ensuring the smooth running of the show.
  • Deputising for the Sound No. 1 when required, including live mixing the show – training will be provided if the successful candidate has limited operating/mixing experience.
  • Maintaining the sound package on the show, alongside the Sound No. 1 and Technical and Building Manager, with particular focus on DPA 4061 & 6061 Mics.
  • Providing technical support for any rehearsals, including an upcoming cast change.
  • Upholding the excellent production standards expected of a first-class play, and the high artistic quality required by the Sound Designer.
  • Being an active member of the technical team, supporting and assisting other members of the team as required and providing cover on days off.
  • Encouraging a supportive backstage environment for the full company.
  • Assisting the Sound No. 1 and Technical and Building Manager with technical troubleshooting of the technical equipment in the venue, supported by the Production Sound and Production Lighting Engineers when required.
  • Occasional LX Maintenance and troubleshooting, alongside sound No. 1 & Technical and Building Manager.

KEY TERMS
Contract: UK Theatre/BECTU Agreement.

Duration: An initial 6-month fixed-term contract starting Tuesday 12th May 2026.

Salary: £750 per week. Inclusive of incidental and Sunday performance payments.

Schedule: 8 performances per week over 6 days. Tuesday to Saturday at 7:30pm, Thursday and Saturday at 2:30pm and Sunday at 3pm. Please note that around during Easter and Christmas periods the schedule may be adjusted. Monday is the designated day off.

Probation: 12 weeks.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Experience of working in a sound department and fitting radio mics.
  • Somebody willing to learn how to operate and mix live shows.
  • Candidates who can be flexible and work well as part of a team.
  • Solution-focused candidates who work calmly under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation.
