Required Availability: Then four attendances per week and on first call to the production. Please note the show schedule is Wednesday-Monday. Occasional weekend attendances will be required. Further exclusivity during 2025 cast change will be required through July and August (Dates TBC)
Full and exact terms and conditions will be discussed with those candidates invited to interview and confirmed in the successful applicant’s contract.
DUTIES:
- Work with the Company Manager to create efficient multi-room scheduling that will negotiate several N/As, press appointments and departmental demands.
- Keep on top of script changes and help communicate these changes to all departments and cast members, including the changes that are pertinent to understudies/covers.
- Solidify the covering systems with the Musical Director, Associate Choreographer and Associate Director
- Schedule and facilitate rehearsals with the understudies/covers where possible.
- Arranging understudy/cover runs.
- Notate all staging and off stage traffic for future understudy rehearsals, resulting in a ‘book’ that will remain the property of BTTF.
- Cover the responsibilities of the Associate Director in their occasional absence as well as upholding the responsibilities of the Resident.
- Take note of useful, creative acting notes that are mentioned by the Director for future use in understudy/cover rehearsals.
- Continue to keep on top of script changes and help communicate these changes to all departments and cast members.
- Recording sections of technical rehearsals on an iPad or similar (which will be provided) for the reviewal of the wider creative team.
- Schedule and facilitate understudy/cover rehearsals where possible and in a way that won’t impinge on the technical rehearsal schedule in the main auditorium.
- Help communicate messages to various technical and creative departments as and when required.
- Noting the show accordingly in order to maintain the show’s high standards.
- Assisting (as required) with press engagements which may sometimes require additional travel/attendance elsewhere.
- Assisting (as required) with casting as and when actor contracts expire or are terminated.
- Being on call and allowing for unscheduled visits (within reason) to help with any emergencies.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION:
This is a busy and highly technical musical, which will rely on an experienced, confident, flexible, calm and approachable Resident Director to help maintain the show to its highest standards.
We are looking for someone that has directing experience as well as experience working on a large scale musical production.
