The successful candidate will have relevant and transferrable experience working in a choreographic capacity on a long-running show and have previous experience of leading a team, and must have the right to live and work in the UK. The Resident Choreographer is a management role on the Tour, and candidates must feel comfortable in this position.

Contract Type: Full-time, fixed-term
Start Date: 10th August 2026 (Rehearsals)
End Date: Guaranteed contract until 23rd May 2027, the candidate must be available until 10th October 2027 for a potential extension
Typical show schedule (subject to change: performances are 6 days per week either Monday – Saturday or Tuesday – Sunday depending on each venue’s schedule
Salary: £1000 per rehearsal and playing week, plus applicable Touring Allowance and Travel Payments
Responsible To: Associate Choreographer, General Manager

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To learn the show from the Associate Choreographer and attend full time rehearsals with the incoming tour cast in the rehearsal room and during tech;
  • To carry out scheduling and administrative tasks during rehearsals to support the Associate Choreographer as necessary;
  • To tour full time with the show nationally and internationally and be an active leader amongst the touring company;
  • Following the first performances of the 2026-2027 cast, to focus on rehearsing the offstage company of Alternates and Superswings into their cover tracks alongside the Resident Director and Musical Director, including teching them into the show where necessary;
  • To participate in the scheduling of weekly rehearsals, note sessions and one to ones with the cast of the show; which will be led by the Resident Director;
  • To run any sections of the show during daily pre-show parish notes as may be required;
  • To participate in regular meetings between the Company Stage Manager, Resident Director and Musical Director;
  • To support the Associate Choreographer on their regular visits to the show and to give their notes as required;
  • To conduct show watches a maximum of 4 times a week and provide notes as necessary, and to ensure regular show watches of the Alternates/Superswings in their various cover tracks as part of this;
  • To show watch each Alternate/Superswing when they debut a new cover track and provide notes as necessary;
  • To establish a strong, communicative relationship with the assigned Dance Captain to uphold the choreographic intent of the show;
  • To input all notes weekly into the SIX UK database and regularly update the database with other materials from the company you are leading;
  • To send monthly updates to the Choreographer and Associate Choreographer on the progression of the company you are leading;
  • To assist as required with training up new band members on the show in the performance elements of their role, including any new deps or emergency situations;
  • To attend and assist with the ‘put-in’ to each new touring venue;
  • To be prepared to attend in each venue at short notice if there is an emergency;
  • To contribute proactively and positively to maintaining the wellbeing of the touring cast;
  • To ensure the safest possible working environment at all times, and that all Health and Safety procedure and practice is adhered to as directed by the production and stage management team;
  • Any other reasonable duty that would normally fall within the remit of a Resident Choreographer based on industry norms and practice.

Person Specification:

  • A strong dance background covering styles including but not limited to: technical jazz, social grooves, house and narrative storytelling;
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written with excellent attention to detail;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Exceptional leadership skills;
  • A proactive and flexible attitude;
  • Previous Resident Choreographer or applicable choreography experience;
  • Previous choreography experience on a commercial musical is desirable;
  • Previous international touring experience is desirable.
