This is a fantastic opportunity to be a part of our exciting and technically challenging in-house festive production, working as part of the Lighting Team and supporting the vision for our stage. Our Lighting Programmer will need to be an excellent team player who can deliver lighting programming in line with our Lighting Designer’s vision.
Available between: Wed 26 Nov – Sat 06 Dec 2025 inclusive

Fri 05 Dec: Preview performance
Sat 06 Dec: Press Night
Pay: £2300 flat fee
Accommodation provided if required
Travel expenses covered if relocating to Cornwall
What you’ll be doing
- Liaising with the Lighting Designer and the HfC Lighting Lead on the design of the lighting control system.
- Keep up to date with changes to the rig as the plan and design evolves.
- Act as a key link between the creative and technical sides of the team during the get-in and rehearsals.
- Programming the show.
- Liaising with other departments; stage management, sound and AV to sync the cuing of the lighting with the other elements of the production.
- Maintain a constant dialogue with the lighting & follow spot operators as elements are added and require maintenance or need to be moved to better serve the production.
- Attend dress rehearsal, previews and post-preview notes sessions.
- Taking notes during the previews and action any programming issues that need attending to.
- Rationalise the show file to ensure the show file is clean and ready to be left.
- Attend the press night in case any issues need to be rectified.
- The programmer must handover and train the desk operator and show running team.
Who we are looking for
- An experienced lighting programmer who is fully aware of the ETC brand and the EOS family.
- Someone who already has experience as a Lighting Programmer on a large-scale production.
- Self-motivated, proactive and energetic, with the ability to work well within the lighting team, stage team, actors and other theatre staff.
- A calm and practical approach to technical trouble-shooting.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Understanding and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
