Health and Safety Advisor

Summary

Health and safety role in a busy live performance environment!

More Details

The Royal Opera House continues to lead the way in opera, ballet, music and dance. The operation of the Royal Opera House is complex and demanding given its scale, the repertory model and the multi-disciplinary nature of our production processes. As well as our Covent Garden home, we run a production workshop and costume centre in Thurrock, Essex and a large store in Aberdare, Wales.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Health & Safety Advisor to work in collaboration with the current H&S Manager to provide guidance and advice to managers (particularly in high-risk areas), conduct inspections and identify hazards. This role will suit a candidate who is action oriented, flexible and can work well under pressure. As a live performing arts venue, we are committed to the Health and Safety of all those we employ, engage and who visit us, so this role is of critical importance to ensuring a positive and widespread health and safety culture.

If you are looking for a role where no two days are the same and you get to work with a broad range of stakeholders both on and off stage, having a positive impact on an organisation, then this could be for you! As well as being a team player, who can operate proactively in a small team with a large remit, our ideal candidate will have:

  • A NEBOSH certificate (or equivalent Level 3 Health and Safety qualification).
  • Good knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation and its practical application.
  • Relevant experience in the live entertainment sector, or in public venues (e.g. museum, exhibition centre, etc.)
  • The ability to work with a diverse range of people in a confident and professional manner.
  • Experience of supporting line managers in completing the review of risk assessments for work equipment and operations.
  • An action-oriented approach, with the ability to take the initiative and deliver results.
