Direct from the West End, The Choir of Man seeks an experienced Head of Sound / Sound No.1 to mix live performances and lead the sound department on its Olivier Award-nominated, debut UK & Ireland tour.

Role Responsibilities:
- Executing sound cues during public performances, mixing live inputs throughout the production, and monitoring the audio systems across the venue.
- Running daily system checks and regular maintenance sessions to ensure the smooth operation of the sound system.

Looking ahead to the sound specification and facilities of each touring venue, identifying any differences or requirements in good time, and communicating these clearly to the Touring Production Manager during the advance process.
- Arrive at each venue well-prepared to meet all the sound department’s needs.
- Liaising with artists, swings, and stage management to maintain performance standards and respond to performance-related requirements.
- Managing the Sound No. 2 and any local venue audio crew, ensuring their work is carried out to the required standard.

Managing the Sound No. 2 ensuring that instrument and backline maintenance is completed to the required standard.

Acting as Head of Department for sound, ensuring the smooth running and operations of the audio elements of the show.

Overseeing audio suppliers during the load-in and load-out of sound equipment at each venue on the tour.

Overseeing the hired equipment (including microphones, loudspeakers, playback equipment, and consumables) and ensuring all equipment is kept in good working condition, arranging maintenance and ordering replacements in conjunction with the Touring Production Manager.

Ensuring data backups of QLab and console show files are properly maintained.

Training and overseeing the Sound No. 2 and any deputies in the mix and operation of the show.

Managing communication and workflow within the sound department, maintaining clear lines of communication with other departments.

Reporting daily to the Company Manager and liaising with the Production Manager, Stage Manager, and other technical departments as required.
- Attending rehearsal, technical, dress and understudy rehearsals as required.

Attending production and technical meetings as necessary, representing the sound department.

Receiving and implementing notes from the Sound Designer and creative team.

Complying with all Producer policies and the Company Code of Conduct.

Not committing to any unbudgeted or unapproved expenses without the prior written authorisation of the Production Manager or their nominated representative.

Any other duties as may be reasonably required in the course of your duties or as instructed by the Producers from time to time.
