Empowering Artists and Driving Inclusivity

The Graeae Associate is a new and exciting role helping to connect artists with each other, the Mercury and Graeae. You will play a key role in the creation and smooth running of artist focussed programmes in the East of England. If you are a Deaf, disabled or neurodivergent person with experience in either directing, writing, delivering workshops or working with children and young people, we want to hear from you.

As Graeae Associate, you will have specific responsibilities for supporting and delivering artist development programmes such as Write to Play and Crips With Chips, and sparking collaboration opportunities across the region. There is room to make the role your own and we want you to be feeding into to future projects at Graeae and the Mercury, and help shape future support for disabled people in the arts.

This is role is part time with annualised hours of 1,100 per year. The main base will be at the Mercury in Colchester with frequent travel to Graeae’s base in London. The role is a co-funded position by the Mercury Theatre and Graeae.

Access Support

Graeae offers all staff members an access audit; a review of support needs to ensure all employees have the tools to work as equals. We then support in an application to “Access to Work”, if needed, and have put funds aside to cover any costs not covered by the scheme. We will assist with booking interpreters, access workers or other personnel as required. Applicants will be responsible for their own personal care and home support needs. We are happy to discuss with you in advance of making an application if you are unsure.
