We are looking for a facilities Manager for Nottingham Playhouse who will lead on managing maintenance, compliance, safety and contractors. This is a hands-on role overseeing building performance, teams and sustainability to ensure a safe, efficient, welcoming venue for staff, artists and audiences.

Job Description

This is a key operational role responsible for building management, maintenance, compliance and day-to-day facilities operations. You will lead a small team, manage contractors and act as the main point of contact for facilities, health & safety and security across the organisation.

You will take a proactive, solution-focused approach-keeping the building safe, functional and welcoming for staff, artists, visitors and audiences, while supporting sustainability and continuous improvement.

Essential Experience & Knowledge

  • Proven practical experience managing premises/facilities/estates management position including supervising a small team and managing contractors.
  • Practical skills and experience in managing maintenance and external supplier contracts
  • Experience managing and monitoring facilities-related contracts including performance, value for money and compliance.
  • Significant experience in Health & Safety management including compliance with relevant legislation and best practices.
  • IOSH Managing Safely accreditation
  • Awareness of licensing legislation relevant to building operations.
  • Understanding of statutory compliance and reporting.
  • Experience of managing and developing a BMS
  • Hands on approach with good mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Experience in budgeting, financial control, and monitoring facilities-related expenditures.
  • Understanding and experience with security systems and procedures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and initiative with a proactive and flexible attitude.
  • Commitment to environmental sustainability in venue operations.
  • A proactive, “can-do” attitude with the ability to drive and implement change.
