Deputy Stage Manager

About the role
English National Ballet is seeking a Deputy Stage Manager to join the stage management team in the Technical department. This role will focus on supporting the Stage Manager in all aspects of production, and work with other team members.
Responsibilities
- Preparation for each production, preparing and maintaining the prompt copy of the score and other production documentation and records.
- Managing the smooth running of rehearsals and performances and calling the cues.
- Supervision of the conduct, safety and general welfare of all staff working backstage, with due care and attention to all relevant company and safety procedures.
Key Selection Criteria
- Extensive experience in operating ‘on the book’ for large-scale professional productions in a performing arts environment.
- Strong score-reading skills, with the ability to follow complex musical structures with precision.
- Ability to understand and work to the varied requirements of a large-scale ballet production.
- Ability to work safely backstage in technical areas, where lighting will be dimmed at times during the production.
- Highly competent user of Microsoft Office suite and multimedia playback software (i.e Qlab) and ability to learn new systems and databases.
- Ability to deliver a consistent high standard of work and remain calm and rational during periods of uncertainty.
