Artistic Coaching Lead

About the role
English National Ballet is seeking an Artistic Coaching Lead to support the development of the employee experience for all our artists and guest artists and creatives on their professional journey through the Company. This role will provide coaching to dancers and members of the artistic team to support personal and professional development, including career development and career transition, working effectively with the Performance Psychologist and Medical team to promote Artist wellbeing and minimise risks.
Please note that this role will provide visible support to our dancers both on site at the Mulryan Centre for Dance in East London, as well as during national and international company tours. This is a part-time position (2.5 – 3 days per week, on average) with annualised hours.
Responsibilities
- Support artists (working with individuals and cohorts) on their professional journey within the Company, for all key milestones including:
- Induction and integration into the Company
- Understanding of the ENB agreement of conduct, and ENB values and professional standards and behaviours
- Promoting a strong team ethic and collaborative work environment
- Communicate messaging on personal safety and awareness raising
- Preparing for performance reviews and related meetings, including understanding the value of feedback and reflection
- Provide development and career transition coaching
- Provide support and training to the Artistic Team, as needed, to enhance skills in giving feedback, communication, facilitation processes and line management skills
- Develop coaching and development programmes which support or dovetail with other available resources, such as Dancer Career Development (DCD), particularly in relation to skills acquisition in preparation for career transition
- Work closely with the Medical team to understand current priorities and risks, and to reinforce positive pathways and minimize risks to wellbeing for Artists
- Foster a strong team ethic and collaborative working style within the Artistic Ensemble, leading by example
Key Selection Criteria
- A professional coach, with experience of delivering coaching to high performing professionals, including artists of major ballet or dance companies
- Good understanding of the dancer career path and different day to day challenges, through direct experience as a professional dancer
- Understanding of the working practices of an Artistic Ensemble and the requirements for stage and rehearsal work
- Qualified coach, such as post graduate level; relevant qualifications include Psychology of Coaching
- Demonstrated influencing skills and ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders
- Ability to contribute to and support a culture of continuous improvement
