This newly created role, sitting within the National Theatre Archive team, will lead on the planning, administration and delivery of Archive-related events, activations, tours and other activity at the National Theatre’s iconic Southbank site, National Theatre Studio and offsite as we seek to build a more cohesive public engagement strategy.
The Archive Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for developing and delivering public engagement programmes, outreach, and activations that promote The National Theatre’s remarkable Archive and its role in understanding the National Theatre today, and in the future. This role involves working closely with the Archive team and wider Customer Experience and Commercial Operations directorate, to create engaging and informative public engagement experiences that highlight the National Theatre’s historical and cultural significance and utilise the archive collections in our care. The postholder will also assist the Digital Archives Manager (Co-Acting Archive Manager) with additional duties as required to support the wider activity of the National Theatre Archive.
The successful candidate will have the following: 
  • Experience in creating and delivering public programming activity in a heritage, museum, gallery or commercial setting with a high degree of confidence in public speaking and interacting with audiences.
  • Demonstrable understanding of how public engagement activities support the artistic and commercial goals of the National Theatre.
  • Excellent research skills with a keen interest in the history of the National Theatre, the Southbank and the wider UK arts sector.
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills, with a high level of accuracy in English.
  • Experience in planning and delivering events, with a clear understanding of the role of logistics, timekeeping and resourcing in such activity.
  • Experience of delivering digital content to audiences via online platforms, including social media.
