Department/Team: Marketing & Commercial
Responsible to: Senior Digital & Content Designer
Hours: Three days (24 hours) per week from 10am to 6pm. Two days in the office (preference of Monday and Wednesday) and one day working from home (preference of Friday)
Duration: Nine months fixed term with an option to extend
Salary: £35,000–£40,000 FTE per annum, pro-rated to 24 hours per week
Location: The Old Vic, 103 The Cut, London, SE1 8NB
Key Responsibilities:
• To work within existing templates to design and roll out typography-led print-ready and digital artwork for marketing campaigns, merchandise and any other Old Vic related campaigns
• From time to time, create new templates to support the design and roll out of campaign artwork featuring typography and/or production imagery
• To work with supplied artwork from external agencies or freelance graphic designers to roll out across marketing campaigns
• To work closely with the Senior Digital & Content Designer to ensure efficient and high quality departmental output
• To work directly with external design agencies, freelance graphic designers and suppliers as instructed by the Senior Digital & Content Designer
• To liaise with all internal departments to meet their design requirements as and when needed, manage the process and agree deadlines
• To liaise directly with external printers
• To support the Marketing & Commercial team in ensuring The Old Vic brand and sub brands are used consistently and are in keeping with our brand guidelines at all times
• To ensure all work is archived and backed up
• To manage files on the server and keep to an agreed naming protocol.
This is not an exhaustive list of duties and the theatre’s management may, at any time, allocate other tasks which are of a similar nature or level.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills, experience and qualities:
Essential
- Junior/midweight level with demonstrable experience
- Proficient in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
- Experience of Adobe Illustrator and After Effects
- Experience of using Adobe Creative Cloud Libraries
- Proven ability of working with typography and typography-led brands
- Proven ability of working within existing templates to ensure precise brand representation
- Proven ability of taking a project from brief through to delivery of the final artwork and print process
- Experience and knowledge of print processes, particularly large format
- Experience working in creative communications or marketing
- Proactive and self-motivated
- Have a keen eye for detail and good communication skills
- Ability to work on multiple briefs at the same time and manage time effectively and prioritise a varied workload.
- Experience of working with and managing brand guidelines
- Experience working with/for theatre and/or museums and galleries
