Head of Participation (Maternity Cover)

Fixed term contract – 12 months

Responsibilities 

  • Working from the strategic plan, drive the creative development and implementation of all work within the participation portfolio.
  • Drive the engagement with schools / SEND, youth and with D/Deaf, Disabled and neurodivergent young people, working collaboratively with other colleagues and artists.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of programmes for widening public participation, engagement and inclusivity in London, in cities we tour to and online.
  • Plan and manage all programming, working with direct reports across Participation and other team members and creatives as needed.
  • Build and develop networks to support the continuity, the growth and development of each programme and including any local or regional networking.
  • Cultivate opportunities for growth and development of participation programmes across the sector, and in local and priority cities, working collaboratively across departments to plan around opportunities within the artistic schedule.

 

Key Selection Criteria

  • Good track record of working in dance, the arts, or education with an in depth understanding of use of inclusive dance practice in the context of learning and participation.
  • Good understanding of dance in schools, curriculum and further/higher education, including from a dance degree or equivalent experience in the sector.
  • Experience of developing and implementing participation programmes working with local communities, children & young people, schools and education partners, in a range of settings.
  • Demonstrated programme management skills in the arts sector: ability to develop, execute and evaluate multiple workstreams within a portfolio.
  • Experienced in people management and working with multi-disciplinary project teams including freelance practitioners.
  • Ability to create and support high quality talent pathways for children and young people.
