What’s the pay?
Phase 1 – Initial £2000 fee for R&D phase in January, delivery of draft mid-February and delivery of final script in March.
Phase 2 – There will be an additional small fee around your engagement with bringing the play to full production, but the main body of your work will lie in the Phase 1 process.
Who are we?
We are SHITE Productions, a London-based theatre company specialising in comedy and site-specific work. In our ten year history, we have commissioned over fifty plays and worked with 200+ artists across the UK, Ireland and USA. Our focus is on creating an environment for artists to be brave, experiment and make decisions (or mistakes), and most importantly have fun. Some of our past shows include:
- Rajesh and Naresh: a queer Indian romcom (rated ***** by Voice Mag and **** by The Stage)
- Once, Twice, Tree Times a Lumberjack: a Lumberjack murder-mystery romcom
- Who’s Your Daddy? Shark’s Your Daddy. Jesus. Is. Your. Daddy.: a multi-species family drama about faith and science
- Show Me Your Wallets: an interactive ode to capitalism
We’re looking for work that:
- Is personal and authentic to the writer
- Tackles topics that are deeply understood and researched by the writer
- Is well paced and structured, with multiple layers of meaning and storytelling
- Is brave, refreshing and affecting
Note: As you can probably tell from our show list, we love to laugh. But we’re open to different styles of work and encourage submissions across all genres.
