SOLT & UK Theatre react to Employment Rights Bill

Responding to the publication of the Employment Rights Bill, SOLT & UK Theatre Co-CEO Hannah Essex said,     

“Our members across the theatre ecosystem take their responsibilities as employers seriously and, through SOLT & UK Theatre, the sector enjoys excellent industrial relations with our union partners.  

“Our collective agreements, which enable us to effectively manage the specific requirements of our work patterns and workplaces, have been carefully negotiated between SOLT & UK Theatre, as employer representatives, and the various unions within the sector over decades. Within any reform, these agreements must be protected otherwise we risk negative consequences for workers and employers in our sector.    

“We will constructively engage with Government through the consultations to ensure they understand the specific nature of theatre as a workplace and the impact of any potential chance on our sector.”
