Sonia Friedman Productions is seeking applications for full-time, experienced Follow Spot Operator to work on the London production of MEAN GIRLS.

Book by Tina Fey, music by Jeff Richmond, lyrics by Nell Benjamin and Directed and Choreographed by Casey Nicholaw – this musical opened in the West End in June 2024.

The Follow Spot Operator will work closely with the Head of LX & Video and the Stage Manager on executing the stage needs of the production.

Key responsibilities include:

  • To act as Follow Spot Operator for the production, performing cues consistently across the run as directed by the Lighting Designer.
  • Writing up a comprehensive cue sheet to ensure the show can be covered in the event of absence
  • Ensuring all staff and areas for which you are responsible adhere to health and safety regulations.

Essential experience includes:

  • Previous follow spot experience on a large-scale West End production.
  • Experience and an understanding of stage & show running etiquette.
  • Experience of operating a remote follow spot system (Macula)
  • An understanding and practical knowledge of the principles and safe working practices of theatre lighting and electrical systems

  • Job Location: Savoy Theatre
  • Contract Type: Fixed term until Sunday 8th June 2025, or for the run of the Production, whichever shall be the shorter, subject to two weeks’ notice by the Producer as per the SOLT/BECTU Agreement.
  • Salary: Weekly rate as per SOLT/BECTU Agreement.
  • Weekly Hours: 6 day working weeks; 8 shows per week plus maintenance and understudy calls.
