The world famous TKTS theatre ticket booth, a fixture of London’s Leicester Square since 1980, has officially returned to its instantly recognisable Clocktower Building home – spotted in the background of countless red carpet film premieres and tourist photos.
A wide range of last minute on-the-day discounts and full price tickets for hit West End shows are on offer seven days a week from the TKTS booth. The TKTS staff, theatre fans themselves with years of industry experience, are on hand to offer expert knowledge and recommendations, as well as answering any questions about what to expect from your trip to the theatre.

The original incarnation of TKTS in Leicester Square 40 years ago was as ‘The Half Price Ticket Booth’, a small, stripy wooden hut. The first of its kind in Leicester Square, it has subsequently spawned many imitations. Following the installation of an electricity sub-station beneath the garden, Leicester Square was reopened by the Queen in 1992, and the booth was welcomed to its new home in the Clocktower Building by the Mayor of Westminster.
The Half Price Ticket Booth was renamed ‘TKTS’ in 2001, adopting the name of its Broadway counterpart in New York. After being forced to close in 2020 due to Covid, it reopened in a temporary Leicester Square Gardens location in September 2021 while maintenance was being carried out below the Gardens..
As a not-for-profit organisation run by the Society of London Theatre (SOLT), TKTS is unique in working directly with theatre owners and producers to bring the best ticket offers to audiences, with proceeds going towards SOLT initiatives benefiting the industry.
