Summary

This upcoming role is an opportunity for a keen and motivated individual to join the LX department on Disney’s Aladdin on a fixed term basis. Working with the Head of LX, Deputy, and local crew, this staff member will help with the day to day of running a large-scale musical to maintain the excellence of the show.

Responsibilities and Duties 
  • Assist the Head and Deputy Head of Lighting to ensure the smooth running of all rehearsals and performances 
  • Assist the Head and Deputy of Lighting on any day-to-day changes that might impact the running of the Production 
  • Assist the Head and Deputy Head of Lighting to teach new members of staff, deps and local crews and work closely with theatre staff at the touring venues to ensure the smooth running of the production 
  • Perform daily setup and lighting rig checks  
  • Ensure an awareness of understudy and swing performances ahead of each show and make necessary adjustments 
  • Ensure all lighting equipment is cleaned so they are in working order for each performance 
  • Learn and execute the tracks for the Lighting Department 
  • Operate the Lighting desk for performances, replicating the show’s lighting design 
  • Attend rehearsal, technical, dress and understudy rehearsals as required 
  • Maintaining, and repairing aspects of the lighting system as instructed and dictated by the artistic requirements and under the direction of the Head and Deputy Head of Lighting, Production Manager and Resident Creative Team. 
  • Handle any problems that occur during performances quickly and calmly. 
  • Report and feedback show and staff related issues in a timely manner 
  • Work in accordance with the Health and Safety Policy and maintain a good working knowledge of all relevant health and safety legislation and good working practices. 
  • Liaise closely with Disney’s Health and Safety Manager to ensure that the Health and Safety Policy is followed 
  • Work closely and in conjunction with the Company Manager. 

 

Skills Required 
  • Clear, confident communication and decision making essential 
  • Ability to remain focused and calm when under pressure 
  • Excellent relationship and interpersonal skills with cast, creative and production team essential 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and use of own initiative  
  • A full awareness of need for integrity and confidentiality 
  • Knowledge of setting up, maintaining and operation of lighting systems  
  • Ability to work at height 
  • Experience in a similar role within a large-scale musical production working with an international cast is highly desirable

Additional Information 
  • Fixed Term Contract. 
  • Weekend and evening work integral (Tuesday to Sunday show schedule). 
  • This role will require the candidate to understand and follow the Health and Safety rules & regulations in place at the the production.
