Casting Associate


We are currently seeking a Casting Associate to work with our Head of Casting in our Theatre & Performance department on a full time, fixed-term basis until 31 October 2024.

The small and busy in-house Casting Department are responsible for casting, or overseeing the casting, of all productions, workshops and events across both the Globe Theatre, Sam Wanamaker Playhouse and on tour.

The role:
The Casting Associate supports the Head of Casting in this work in line with our casting principles. The role will also work closely with the Producing team, freelance Directors and Casting Directors, and will be part of the Theatre team.

The Casting Associate will be responsible for the casting of cover actors, supernumeraries and child actors as required, and may also be involved in the casting of R&Ds, events and full productions, subject to experience. The role will involve providing excellent administrative support, including but not limited to checking the availabilities of actors; scheduling auditions and overseeing audition days; booking in and setting up audition spaces and coordinating diaries and meetings and may need to run auditions or read in as required.

What are we looking for:
The successful candidate will have at least two years’ experience working in casting, ideally in theatre. They will have a hands-on approach, with meticulous attention to detail and will ensure the Casting team is supported with an excellent understanding of the management and maintenance of accurate administrative systems and processes. Good knowledge of, and enthusiasm for, Shakespeare’s works are important in this varied and challenging role and an interest in new writing is desirable.
