The Access Advisor, Theatre & Education will work closely with the Theatre & Production and Education teams. They will advise and support in making the Globe accessible for creative and Education freelancers, support the planning and lead on the delivery of a comprehensive programme of assisted performances (captioned, audio described, relaxed and BSL). The role will support the development of creative projects to ensure Access is considered and applied, and they will develop and deliver training, frameworks, and advice for these teams.


This role will require excellent communication skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships. A working knowledge of the Equality Act 2010 and a strong understanding of the Social Model of Disability will be needed, as well as a demonstrable commitment to widening theatre accessibility. You ideally will have experience of delivering assisted performances within a multidisciplinary venue, and an understanding of the production process from rehearsals to show running. The role also requires an understanding of the Access to Work scheme and how to support application writing.


As part of ensuring Shakespeare is accessible for all, we are on a continuous improvement journey to embed and develop Access at Shakespeare’s Globe. Responsibility for Access at the Globe sits centrally within the People & Culture department, with Access Advisors based in the Theatre and Ticketing & Sales departments. This role reports into the Theatre department, with close working relationship with the Education teams, as well as being part of the team for advising and supporting teams across the whole organisation.
