OfficialLondonTheatre.com (@london_theatre) and Twitter have partnered to bring users Theatre Twitter Talks, a series of conversations with the industry’s biggest and most influential names at Twitter HQ. The inaugural Q&A is being broadcast now (16:00) via @TwitterStage and is hosted by Jamie Lambert (@JamieCollabro). Fans are encouraged to tweet their questions via #TwitterTalks.
Julian Bird (@julianpbird), Chief Executive of the Society of London Theatre, said: “Theatregoers are some of the most engaged and passionate fans on the internet and so we are thrilled to be partnering with Twitter to give them the chance to interact with their favourite stars. London is home to the world’s greatest theatre talent and so it’s fitting that we’re launching with one of the industry’s most acclaimed and decorated performers who has taken the city by storm with her debut West End performance.”
Alice Beverton-Palmer (@alice), Twitter said: "We're excited to bring the #TwitterTalks format into the world of theatre alongside OfficialLondonTheatre.com. So far, chart stars such as HAIM, Olly Murs and Zara Larsson have been interviewed on the Twitter UK sofa, and now it's the West End's turn. We're delighted to launch with a true theatre legend, Audra McDonald, talking to the six-time Tony Award winner as she makes her West End debut. From here, you can expect the #TwitterTalks interview series to bring the brightest stars of the London theatre scene direct to their fans and followers on Twitter."
Official London Theatre is run by the Society of London Theatre, the not-for-profit organisation representing the London theatre industry. The organisation produces the Olivier Awards (@OlivierAwards) and West End LIVE (@WestEndLIVE) and runs audience development initiatives including Get Into London Theatre and Kids Week which runs throughout August.
Future participating shows and scheduling will be announced shortly.
