The Lyric Hammersmith is one of the UK’s leading producing theatres. For more than 120 years it has been responsible for creating some of the UK’s most ground-breaking and acclaimed theatrical productions. At the same time it has gained a national reputation for its work with children and young people. The Lyric reopened in April 2015 following a £20 million capital project which has seen the addition of extensive new facilities aimed at expanding the Lyric’s work with young people, emerging and professional artists across the performing arts. The new Lyric, now home to an innovative partnership of leading arts organisations, has become the largest creative hub for West London. The Lyric’s dual commitment to producing the highest quality contemporary theatre, alongside nurturing the creativity of young people, and the quality, range and scale of its new facilities, make it unique within the theatre ecology of the UK.
As the Lyric’s primary ambassador for its programme of work with the formal education sector, the Producer (Education) will take responsibility for the direction, development and delivery of the Lyric’s programmes and partnerships with the formal education sector. This includes relationships with schools in the state and independent sector at primary and secondary level, as well as with further and higher education institutions.
This is an exciting and varied position which will further develop our strategic relationships with all schools in Hammersmith and Fulham, deliver projects within the local Cultural Education Partnership, and support the development of innovative partnership projects and new ways of working within formal education. The Producer (Education) will take lead responsibility for the Lyric’s delivery of Arts Award across all Young Lyric projects, including Education, Open Access and Targeted Work. They will also lead on Artsmark, working with schools to support their cultural offer.
